Crosby’s self-locking snatch blocks have a semi-circular guard in the shell over the sheave that prevents the wire from slipping between shell and sheave. This feature also greatly strengthens the plates in the shell. A steel sleeve over the center pin gives a bearing surface a larger dia. The sleeve is held tightly between the plates, making the blocks extremely rigid.
