Dixie’s peavies have handles that are turned from select White Mountain Hickory that has been air dried to 18% moisture content. Their duckbill hooks are drop forged high carbon steel with the bill ground to a fine point. They also have a drawn carbon steel socket and a pick that has been forged from high carbon steel before being solidly driven into the handle. The socket is held securely in place with a special retaining tab forged into the pick.
