These taps are primarily designed for tapping through holes, but can also be used in blind holes deep enough for chip accumulations in the bottom of the hole. The spiral point forces the chips ahead of the tap, thereby preventing clogging and recutting of chips. Long holes (more than 1-1/2 in diameter) can then be tapped. The taps can be used by hand or under power and are suitable for tapping most materials, especially those with high ductility. Each of the taps feature American National thread forms and a chamfer style with 3 to 5 threads.
